Description: An early work combining collage and painting by San Diego’s icon of contemporary art, Richard Allen Morris. In this work, Plunge No. 2, Morris combines witty aquatic imagery, clipped from magazines, with brushstrokes in colors from above and below the surface of the water. A piece of denim–blue jeans–attached to the lively surface of the painting takes the pun even further. It’s a characteristically clever Richard Allen Morris painting. Dated 1959, titled, and emphatically signed “R. Morris Collage” on the reverse.
